24+weeks....

24 weeks (25 weeks on Friday)
I am really not good at doing this on a weekly basis. Sorry...time is really getting away from me. I am almost 25 weeks on Friday. I go back to the doctor this week for the gestational diabetes test. Wish me luck! I am feeling great at the moment besides these stupid CANKLES I have started to develop. I HATE having fat feet!
Declan is doing great! He is so active here lately and keeping Mom awake or alert of his every move. It's a wonderful feeling and I am very grateful to be experiencing this!
Joshua and I have been discussing getting his room started but keep putting it off. He may have a bedroom come December. haha
I will try to be better at posting. Not much to write about now....I will write more next week after I go to the doctor this Friday.

Thanks for reading!

23 weeks....

23 weeks
*Sorry looking a little rough in this picture....got home from work and took one since we hadn't in a while.*

Declan and I are doing great! He is so active now and Joshua and I can now see my belly move at times with his movements. (weird) I am feeling great....some of the punches/kicks he does now aren't very pleasant and can hurt based upon the direction he is kicking. haha

As far as cravings... I still want fruit occasionally and last weekend requested chicken spaghetti from my Grandmother. (Yummy, thanks again Grandmother) Now if I get my mother in law to fix cornbread salad...hint hint...karebear and my Mom to make my favorite chicken pasta salad. :) ( DID I MENTION I LOVE THE WOMEN IN MY LIFE) Oddly...I am drinking orange juice more than normal and before I didn't like orange juice...made me sick. Now it seems refreshing. Babies make your body do crazy things.

We got the bedding in for Declan's crib...now it's time to clean out the guest bedroom and get to unpacking boxes and repacking other things. Once the room is setup I will start posting pics. I am still waiting for the "Nesting " state to take over....I am NOT motivated to do anything right now. haha. Hopefully that will come soon once I hit the 3rd trimester.

Thanks for reading. New "DAD TO BE" post coming soon.

The Cave Man...

Whitney wants me to write about our baby, but I find it very hard to write about someone who I have not met, and about whom I, generally, have no reference point other than the knowledge we share at least a portion of some very superior genes.

I would think it comparable to writing a report of some sort about someone trapped in a cave in your neighborhood… (not as unlikely as it sounds in our area of Kentucky, due to our system of underground caves and the local peoples’ proclivity for doing stupid things in a dry/moist county).

There are several things that are clear concerning this trapped man in the cave:

-He’s definitely in there (a couple soil tests and an expensive cave specialist made that abundantly clear)

-It’s definitely a dude in there (we’ll leave the details of this knowledge out at this juncture).

-How he got in there is an unverifiable mystery, but not entirely a mistake.

-He may have memory loss, so it’s probably best no one ever tells him how he got in there… ever.

-Communication is kind of a one-way street.

-You hear and sometimes feel him poking around in there through the walls, but can't get to him.

-Although he is way down in there, you can pass him food and nourishment through a tunnel beginning at a massive opening at the north end that rarely closes up.

-He has to come out of there eventually (I would suggest the same way he got in there, but, remember, no one’s sure how that happened so we may have to look at alternate routes).

-There are going to be pain-killers involved in his exit.

-Everyone will be overwhelmed and happy when he finally escapes.

-Everyone hopes he emerges with all emotional, physical, and intellectual faculties completely and totally intact, because that’s the most important thing in a rescue of this nature.

As you can see, there’s not a ton to know about this constricted cave character until we actually get him out.

I mean, how do I know I’ll even like him once he does escape? How do I know he’ll like me? Will we have anything in common? Will he be a lot like me, and is that a good thing, necessarily? What if he starts yelling at me for no good reason, because he thinks it’s my fault he was trapped in there in the first place (it better be my fault, Whitney)? How am I going to react to the effects of his PTSD, all the screaming and the nightmares? I feel like he’ll want to live with us, at least for a little while, and I wonder how that’s going to go? How long is it going to be before this cave man gets a job and pulls his own weight around here? There are just so many variables and things up in the air that, until he’s actually here, in sight, it’s hard to know what to think about first.

All I know is that we can’t wait to get him out of there, clean him up, take him home, and love him like we’ve never loved any other stranger before.

And he can live with us for at least until he can take care of himself again… even if it takes ten years.

Oh, and I give him about four more months before we drop some serious cash and get that cave specialist to blast him out of there, because this is taking forever…

… time to go…

19 weeks and counting....

So I am a week behind but Oh Well. :)

19 weeks and counting...20 weeks this Friday!!! (Almost to the half way mark)

Declan and I are doing great! I am feeling him move more and more everyday. His still gives me daily reminders between 3:30-5:00am that he is there, sitting closely to my sciatic nerve. :) So we do the usual routine, get up walk around the room, go to the bathroom then go back to bed. I am very in love with this little man now and can't wait to see him December.

No more crazy dreams....no new cravings. Just getting bigger and bigger everyday.

Next appointment is next Friday, more details to come after.

Thanks for reading.

Crazy Dreams...

Ok....so am I the only pregnant woman that has experienced crazy (I mean CRAZY) dreams? I would love to here responses to this blog. :)
So let me start by telling you first...Declan and I are GREAT! He has become very ACTIVE lately and Daddy (Joshua) felt him move for the first time on Saturday. He was very excited and since has felt him a couple of times. I think we have a soccer player on our hands, he's got some strong legs! Let me just tell you this is an AMAZING feeling! I love being able to feel him daily as a reminder that God has trusted me to carry his child for 9 mths. This is incredible!!!! I am blessed. I am loving being pregnant, even though I may complain about the times where he likes to sit close to my sciatic nerve and cause my leg to go numb and a pain shoot from my back to my right leg, and the number of times I pee daily. I LOVE IT! Declan is my TRUE joy and I get so excited to think about meeting him in December.
I am still craving lots of fruit and LOVE me some Apple Jack's in the morning! I am sleeping ok now besides the crazy dreams and number of times I have to get up b/c he is on my sciatic nerve or just to go to the bathroom. Sometimes it's hard to go to sleep b/c when I lay down at night is when he is the most active. (Just like his Daddy, a night owl.) I just lay there and feel him move and think how incredible it is for women to experience this and sad that Joshua could never know this feeling.
Alright, so enough anticipation. Let me elaborate a little more on these CRAZY dreams.

So...several times I have had dreams where Josh (my loving, sweet, amazing husband) leaves me for another woman or cheats on me and doesn't care to tell me about it. :) Remember these are ALL dreams b/c I know that he would NEVER do this to me but I wake up so mad sometimes or sad I just want to punch him. haha. Which in turn makes him mad b/c he says, "I didn't even do anything! It's a DREAM!" haha. I can't help it and I have read in many pregnancy books/websites that women will experience dreams like this during pregnancy. So, evidently this is normal but I hate it! I once woke up crying I was so upset...stupid hormones! lol
Another dream I had was that my dog, Scout (who currently resides with my grandparents) was being chased by a Lion and almost eaten several times. I forced myself to wake up from this dream before something bad happened. ( I love my Scout) OK....now for the GRANDDADDY of them all DREAMS. (Actually this one happened last night...so while still fresh in my mind I will share) *Note: Some of the people in this dream I have failed to tell them of this dream yet. :) Enjoy!
So the scene starts with Me, Joshua, and 2 of my very dear friends, Gina & Lauralee at a Grocery story. (Not your ordinary grocery store, this store had apartments in it!) So we walk in and I immediately notice, "Hey Whitney, where are your pants?" thinking to myself. I stand in the middle of a grocery store with nothing but a T-Shirt, underwear, and my cell phone tucked into my underwear. But no one, not even those with me act as though it's a big deal, so I continue to shop. I head in one direction, Josh in another, and Lauralee in another. Gina says she's going to visit her sister in the apartments. (Remember there are apartments in this grocery store. :) ) So I start walking in one direction and notice a bunch of Bowling Green Police Officers. (The only reason I recognize them is b/c I see my friend/officer David Grimsley) I go to walk in their direction and quickly notice that one of the police officers just KNOCKS David out! ( I mean like punches him so hard he falls to the floor) I run over quickly and ask, "What happened!?! Why did you do that!?!" The other office responds, "He passed out!" I said , "NO HE DIDN'T!!! YOU PUNCHED HIM!" The other officers agree, "No...he passed out!" I look down to check on David and quickly notice it's not David anymore! It's Blake Francis! I am completely confused at this point. Then "random" woman states, "He's dead" but continues to perform CPR. All of a sudden Blake sets us and says, " What's up? What happened?" (Blake your a miracle :) ) I was completely confused and this time and decided I was leaving. (No David in sight) I quickly pull my cell phone from my underwear ( haha...sorry. I just think it's funny where I stored it) and call Josh and Lauralee, no answer. I get ahold of Gina who is on the way back to the front of the store b/c she explains something about "diseases" (Gina...still didn't figure that out). So here I am at the front of a grocery store sitting on a park bench waiting for everyone. I start to notice these two older men (Late 80s) in a fight over an older woman (late 80s). I know they are older b/c it's exactly how you would imagine old men to fight at that age, slow and clumsy. haha. So anyway... they are fighting over their "Hotty woman" but stop fighting in the middle to embrace a kiss. (WHAT!?!) Yes...it happened in my dream. Josh then walks up, "Says what's going on!?!" We leave, the end. hahaha...Ok...I know I am CRAZY! These are just the beginning of these crazy dreams I guess, more to come soon. :)

Life of being pregnant.

Thanks for reading.
